Why choose Toowong Orthodontics

We offer the benefits of being at only the one practice location.

We have chosen to concentrate our efforts at the one practice location in the convenient Brisbane inner city suburb of Toowong.

This is important for patients as it means that we have all our latest high quality equipment available at all times at the location that you attend. It means that all your records and charts are available at the one location for when we need to access them for your treatment.

It also means that you can always see the Orthodontist of your choice in the one place. This is an important consideration when some treatments can take up to 18 months or more.

Most orthodontic practices have multiple suburbs that they visit, sometimes only once or twice a fortnight.

Therefore if you have a breakage or emergency they will generally ask you to travel to another suburb where the Orthodontist is working on that particular day.

How to clean your braces

Looking after your teeth may seem daunting when you first get braces. That is why we have put together this easy to follow instruction kit for you to read to ensure you are keeping up with your daily cleaning routine.
Braces can trap food in their grooves and can lead to further health problems if they are not cleaned daily.

REMEMBER: Before you start be sure to take off all removable parts like your elastics to make brushing easier.

1.Hold your toothbrush at a straight angle and start with the outside of the teeth
2.Brush the outside of your teeth using small circular motions, making sure to include the outside of your the back teeth too.
3.Angle the toothbrush upwards on the bottom teeth so that you can clean the area between the gums and teeth. Repeat on the upper teeth by angling the toothbrush down.
4.Thoroughly brush the upper chewing surfaces of the back teeth on both sides.
5.Thoroughly brush the lower chewing surfaces of the back teeth on both sides.
6.Brush the inside of the upper teeth, making sure to include the inside of your the back teeth too.
7.Finish by brushing the inside of your lower teeth, making sure to include the inside of your lower back teeth also.
8.Get an interdental toothbrush. These brushes are available in small disposable sizes and are helpful to clean around braces. They look like a pipe cleaner and can be helpful to gently clean around the braces and underneath the orthodontic wires.
9. Follow with a mouth wash and repeat 2-4 times a day.
